Founder / CEO / Producer | 宋晓文 Rachel Song
Rachel Song, bilingual independent film producer, founder & CEO of XS Media. With a dual BA degree in Film Study and Philosophy from Peking University, Master’s Degree in Arts and Cultural Management from Pratt Institute and Entertainment Industry Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University, Rachel started her entertainment career at National Theatre of China as a producer for the well-renowned director Tian Qinxin’s acclaimed musicals Nightclub and We are all sick. She then expanded her professional career with Global companies such as the best cloud-based fine art gallery Collectrium, the top international sales agency IM Global, and US-China film production company Kylin Pictures in the past few years.
In December 2015, Rachel co-founded Vantage Entertainment in Los Angles. She has developed valuable
business partnerships and brought in premium film projects from all around the world for acquisitions,
financing, co-producing and packaging as Head of Business at Vantage. She is the co-producer of the film Billionaire Boys Club (2017) starring Ansel Elgort and produced by award-winning producer Cassian Elwes.
VP, Development | 张翰姝 Julie Zhang
As the Director of Development at XS Media, Julie Zhang is responsible for assessing incoming talent and pitches, developing current projects and discovering original material with high creative potential.
An independent producer and writer, Julie holds a Master of Entertainment Industry Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Fudan University.
Before joining XS Media, Julie has worked at major entertainment companies, participating in film and TV development, acquisitions and marketing. Prior to pursuing her master’s degree, she worked at the Walt Disney Studios (China), executing the marketing and promotion of films such as The Guardian’s of the Galaxy, Big Hero 6, Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the U.S., she worked at HBO Original Programming, Fox Searchlight Acquisitions, and Activision Blizzard Studios.
VP, Business & Production | 张天 Tian Zhang
Tian is an upcoming bilingual producer and actress. She received her dual major B.A. degree in Women’s and Gender Studies and Television, Radio & Film from Syracuse University. During her college time, she has produced multiple short films, including OUT OF THE WOODS and FRANKIE’S MONSTER.
In 2016, Tian started off as a Development Assistant at Jia Zhangke’s feature film production company Fabula Pictures, where she coordinated the story development of multiple projects, including UNTITLED CHRIS LEE project, Cathy Yan’s feature film DEAD PIG, and the feature adaption of PARADOX 13. Prior to joining XS Media, Tian relocated in Los Angeles and had worked at IM Global and Shandong Film & TV Media Group while continuing producing short films.
Director, Business and Operations | 夏曼 Patricia Xia
Patricia Xia, an uprising film & TV professional who works closely with Chinese market, holds M.A. in Communications and double B.A in Journalism and Arts from Peking University. She entered the industry in 2014 with working experiences in Chinese media giants like Huaxia Film, Renmin Daily and Huace Group. Prior to joining XS media in 2018, Patricia served as the assistant for Vice President of Huace Group for two years, during which time she was intensely involved with the developing, financing, producing and distributing aspects of multiple domestic & international projects like KILL ME HEAL ME, ENTREPRENEURIAL AGE, AN ORIENTAL ODYSSEY, etc. She is also experienced in overseas business expansion, PR, and corporate administration. She is now the director of business and operations of XS Media.
Manager, Business and Production | 赵桐 Claire Zhao
Claire Zhao is a bilingual independent film producer and writer. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Producing from Beijing Film Academy, China’s most prestigious film school, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a Master’s degree in Film at the Art Center College of Design.
Prior to joining XS Media, Claire worked on multiple award-winning short films, commercials, TV shows and web series. From 2013 to 2017, she served as an assistant producer and production manager, where she coordinated productions for Chinese and international clients including ESPN, OPPO, Xiaomi, Alibaba, Canada Broadcasting Company (CBC), and KEF.
